Meet Dr. Bansal
Vidya Bansal M.D.
Dr. Vidya Bansal is a board certified pediatrician and member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a native of the Nashville area, grew up in Bellevue, and is a graduate of MLK Magnet High School and David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. She completed medical school at Sri Devraj Urs Medical College in Karnataka, India. She then did her pediatrics residency at John Stroger Hospital in Chicago, IL, and one year of a Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition Fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Bansal has practiced pediatrics for over 13 years post-residency, in traditional, insurance based private practices in suburban, rural, and urban areas. She became frustrated with the rising cost of healthcare, parents not getting the care they deserved in an insurance-based practice, and with children’s healthcare being taken over by corporate medicine. She decided she wanted to be part of a growing nationwide movement to provide affordable and better pediatrics to Nashville parents. Dr. Bansal therefore founded Dr. Mom Pediatrics and Lactation to bring Direct Primary Care to Pediatrics to the area, with Nashville’s FIRST Pediatric Housecall Service exclusively conducted by a board certified pediatrician.
Dr. Bansal also is the Founder and Executive Director of a not-for-profit organization for physician women, benefitting victims of domestic abuse, physician wellness, and women’s advocacy. She was featured on NPR’s “Here and Now” and PracticeLink Magazine for her charitable work and leadership.
Dr. Bansal is passionate about changing the heathcare system in the US, providing quality and affordable physician-led healthcare, advocating for her patients, and most importantly, being a part of your family’s journey. As a Mom to a sweet boy, Dr. Bansal understands the challenges of motherhood, ironically though she is a pediatrician herself!
Dr. Bansal enjoys cooking, photography, and interior decorating. When she is not running her practice or not-for-profit, you can find her and her husband snuggling with their young and energetic son.
